A company in Alberton is looking for a Panelbeater Must have expr Must be able to start immediately. Must have 2 - 3 years expr . Please send CV to stephanie@emeka-sa.com or FAX 086 536 7257 A panel beater is a term most commonly used in Britain and Australia, and describes a position very similar to an auto body mechanic in the U.S. Panel beaters work to repair cars and restore them to factory clearances after an accident or other form of damage. Vehicle Restorations The main duty of a panel beater is to restore vehicles to a factory state. This involves first assessing a vehicle’s damage and determining where and how to perform repair work. The panel beater must then remove damaged panels and components, either by cutting them away or unbolting them from the vehicle. Depending on the type and level of damage, he then either replaces the damaged parts or repairs them, using mechanical, hydraulic and metalworking equipment. He then rejoins repaired parts with welding equipment and repairs dents with plastic fillers and file. Cosmetic Work In addition to functional repairs, panel beaters perform extensive services to improve the look of a vehicle. A panel beater may apply these services to a damaged car by grinding, sanding, repainting and polishing the car after repairs have been done. He may also perform purely cosmetic work on otherwise perfectly functioning cars. These services are intended to maintain the like-new look of the car, and can include repairing chips and scuffs, polishing and waxing, glass repairs, interior repairs and wheel refinishing.
